General Function Glycine oxidase activity Specific Function Catalyzes the FAD-dependent oxidative deamination of various amines and D-amino acids to yield the corresponding alpha-keto acids, ammonia/amine, and hydrogen peroxide. Oxidizes sarcosine (N-methylglycine), N-ethylglycine and glycine., Peut également oxyder l’herbicide glyphosate (N-phosphonométhylglycine). Affiche des activités plus faibles sur la D-alanine, la D-valine, la D-proline et la D-méthionine. N’agit pas sur les acides L-aminés et autres acides D-aminés. Est essentiel pour la biosynthèse de la thiamine puisque l’oxydation de la glycine catalysée par la ThiO génère l’intermédiaire glycine imine (déshydroglycine) nécessaire à la biosynthèse du cycle thiazole du pyrophosphate de thiamine.,>
